The Leicester Falcons are currently awaiting to see if they will be made a full member for the Senior League 2008 season. But not to stand still, the Falcons have been in discussions with the Leicester Eagles about how best they can work together for the further development of football in Leicester. The Eagles are Leicester's Flag football team running teams from age 7 upward, through to senior flag.
Guy Kersey Falcons General Manager said, "Since the inception of the Falcons we have always wanted to work closely with the Eagles who have done a great job of bringing young talent through. A number of our current squad played for the Eagles. We are now officially affiliated to each other, which will help us keep the young players through to senior football within Leicester. We will be using our resources at the Falcons to help recruit players for the Eagles. Eventually we would like to set up a youth kitted team too but we have to take this one step at a time."
Martin Gwilliams Eagles Manager said, " We have been in discussions for some time with the Leicester Falcons senior kitted team about how our two clubs can work together. We have agreed that our clubs should be affiliated, whilst remaining as independent clubs, and to help one another in whatever ways we can. The Falcons are launching an advertising campaign to raise awareness of their club and to try to attract new players. They have agreed to carry information about the Eagles on their posters and in their press releases and hopefully this will result in new players joining the Eagles for the 2008 season. Hopefully this is just the start of a long term affiliation that will benefit players, coaches and management of both clubs."
